Today we headed down 48th Street (across town) to the Outdoor Resorts Luxury RV Park. All I can say is WOW!! Up until this time, we thought that the best RV park we stayed in was in the Florida Keys and it is called Blue Water Key. I think this park has it beat! We had a free 6 day, 5 night coupon for this resort and there is no sales presentation. The reason? The park sells itself (if you have lots of $$$). Lots start at over $200,000 and most are going for half a million!
Our site was on a corner of the park and it was a beautiful grassy site surrounding a cement RV pad. Driving around the resort on our bicycles, we saw every high end motorcoach that is made. These deeded sites are purchased and the owners can fix them up to their taste. We saw waterfalls, gazebos, spas, beautiful flower gardens and ornate "sheds"! The park features a lake that you can use your electric boat on and go from one RV site to the next. Keep in mind, this is in the desert! It is truly an oasis in the desert.
What a pleasant place to be for a week. The smell of flowers was all around you as well. The pool area was really beautiful although, as you can see, it was not used that often! One night we even saw a hot air balloon rising above the resort in the distance!
Tuesday, March 4th...
We headed out to lunch with our friends Rod and Jean. We went to the Hog's Breath Saloon in Old La Quinta, a small town between Indio and Palm Springs. It was housed in a quaint little Spanish styled shopping area. We relaxed on the 2nd floor porch of the restaurant overlooking the shops and walkways. The place is themed after Clint Eastwood and his movies. "What did we have for lunch", you ask? Peg and I each had Dirty Harry Burgers, of course!
That evening we all went to downtown Palm Springs for their weekly village festival. We did not know what to expect. It was a huge gathering of vendors, musicians and people! They actually close off the main street for the evening and you can walk many blocks looking at all the "cool" stuff. The stores are also open so there is a lot to see. We actually bought a pretty resin butterfly which is blue and purple and we have it hung in the windshield of the coach. As we drive, it flies around with us!! We had a great time and would like to visit this festival again sometime!
